Methionine - Essential Amino Acid for Pigs

Methionine is an essential amino acid and one of the first limiting amino acids in pigs (NRC, 2012). Methionine is involved in many essential biological processes with the main role of protein biosynthesis, which has a high impact on swine growth and development (Zimmermann et al., 2005; Kim et al., 2006).

However, the methionine content of natural ingredients is generally low. So, to meet the animals' requirements, additional methionine must be provided in pigs' feed as a nutritional additive. You can increase swine performance and productivity by choosing the right methionine for your herd, thereby lowering feed costs and attenuating performance variations.
