Alternative Ingredients in Pig Diets
Swine nutrition is crucial to their long-term development. Pigs are usually fed cereals, which represent the animals' primary sources of energy and protein, respectively. Diet formulation accounts for the majority of a pig's production cost. Considering that, is there a way to replace those ingredients without losing quality in the diet?
Many co-products can replace conventional ingredients, but they must be used appropriately. Pigs' diets can contain alternative ingredients, but we need to optimize absorption of nutrients and reduce anti-nutritional factor levels in co-products. Enzyme complexes are an excellent option among the several methods available. The pigs' performance will not be negatively affected if this is achieved.
